This unique wine tour invites guests to explore two exceptional wineries, each influenced by a different European winemaking tradition. One is shaped by the elegance of the French school, while the other draws its inspiration from the heart of Italy.

The first stop is Ktima Gerovassiliou , a name synonymous with the modern renaissance of Greek wine. Vangelis Gerovassiliou, the estate’s founder, studied oenology and viticulture in Bordeaux and is considered one of the pioneers who helped Greek wine earn its place on the international stage. A passionate advocate for native Greek grape varieties, he also proved that international grapes like Chardonnay, Viognier, and Sauvignon Blanc can not only survive — but truly thrive — in Greece’s sunny climate. Our second visit takes us to a much smaller winery, led by Yorgos — a bold and independent winemaker who studied in Italy’s famed Piedmont region. There, he developed a deep love for Italian wines, and upon returning to Greece, became one of the few to plant Italian varieties on the Halkidiki Peninsula.

Yorgos is often described as a bit of a winemaking maverick — he follows his instincts rather than trends, crafting wines with real personality and depth. His approach is hands-on, heartfelt, and deeply personal. As a trained oenologist, he oversees every step of the winemaking process himself — not from behind a desk, but in the vineyard and cellar. For Yorgos, winemaking isn’t just a profession — it’s a philosophy and a way of life.

From the moment you arrive, you’re treated like part of the family. Yorgos and his parents welcome guests with warmth and generosity, making the experience as memorable as the wines themselves. His storytelling — equal parts science and poetry — brings each wine to life, inspiring even those who never thought of themselves as wine lovers.

During the tasting, you’ll sample both Italian and local grape varieties. And if you enjoy stronger spirits, don’t miss the house-madeTsipouro, a traditional grape brandy that Yorgos’s father distills with pride.
